Route 66 Map Tier List - Best Hero Rankings - July 2016 Edition

Route 66 is an awesome map with a solid "Wild West" feel to it, and McCree players should feel right at home. That being said, it is definitely one of the most balanced maps out there and players should feel pretty back and forth when it comes to winning and losing on this map.

There are plenty of corridors to hide in, and fights often take place indoors, despite it being a payload escort map.

SEASON 1 - JUNE 30TH PATCH TIER LIST
Route 66 Escort Map

Introduction

Route 66 is an awesome map with a solid "Wild West" feel to it, and McCree players should feel right at home. That being said, it is definitely one of the most balanced maps out there and players should feel pretty back and forth when it comes to winning and losing on this map.

There are plenty of corridors to hide in, and fights often take place indoors, despite it being a payload escort map.

General Tips

  1. Some players like to position Bastion at the door even on offense, since you can see outside and start aiming at enemy squishies. If you're a sniper, definitely take care as Bastion can burst you down even if you hit him with a headshot.
  2. The right side of the map at the start generally has less defense around it since they can only fire out of that one tunnel. However, beware that some players like to take the gamble and may camp out that area.
  3. The initial starting area has a ledge that is very easy to back into. Heroes with knockbacks can score some easy kills, and snipers that are not careful may slowly fall to their demise.
  4. The rooftop in town is excellent for scoring multi-kills with heroes like McCree or Pharah, especially if the enemy is congregated around the payload.

Explanations

Genji [God Tier] - Genji is exceptionally good on this map as a result of the multitude of corners he can duck around and his ability to reflect ranged shots while he is in the open. The large variety of climbable objects and walls on this map also makes him extremely mobile.

Widowmaker [Tier 2] - Later on in the game as the payload progresses, Widowmaker is extremely valuable in taking out defensive positions from long range. However, selecting her at the start of the game is generally a waste of character space.

Defending Tier List

Tier 3 [Subpar Picks]:

SupportZenyatta

Explanations

Pharah [God Tier] -
Pharah's long range missiles can easily knock enemies off the ledge as they round the corner. She is also exceedingly good at pulling off multi-kills with his ult as enemies go through town. In order to counter her, offense may want to send a Reaper off ahead to take her out before she can rain death from above.

McCree [Tier 2] - After nerfs, McCree is slightly less powerful when it comes to flanking and Reaper is the better choice. However, his ultimate is still extremely powerful from some of the high vantage points that this map provides.
