Overwatch Hero Tier List - June 6 Patch

Hi everyone and welcome to the very first Overwatch Tier List. To start with, I've put together a basic tier list that lists out the champions by roles in their respective tiers.

However, as a very "map-centric" type of game, making a single Tier List based off of all the map types isn't entirely accurate, but for the quick and dirty run-down, it gets the job done for now.

For more seasoned veterans, I'll be putting together some map-based tier lists in the upcoming days. Check out the list below!

Explanation of Tiers

Reinhardt [God Tier]: Reinhardt is not only an exceedingly effective tank via his massive shield and strong health pool, but he is also one of the simplest tanks in the game to play as well. On offense, he's an indispensable method to push forward through enemy defenses, and on defense he's a perfect tool to cover your snipers with.

Lucio [God Tier]: Lucio's abilities on control maps is insanely strong. Even if he was not equipped with an offensive tool, he would still be an excellent support hero just for his supportive abilities. That being said, the gun he uses packs quite a punch, and his secondary knock-back effect is particularly effective on maps with many ledges.

---

McCree [Tier 1]: Although he's getting nerfed soon, McCree is still very strong in his current state. His ability to fight in close ranges against both tanks and glass cannons means that McCree is an extremely versatile hero on both offense and defense. His ultimate is also exceedingly strong against teams in a game that forces them to huddle around objectives.

Genji [Tier 1]: Genji is one of those heroes that looks like he will eventually rise up further in the rankings, but just needs someone to truly master him first. He's an exceedingly mobile jack-of-all-trades with the ability to double jump in the air, wall-climb, and dash forward in the air. These moves combined essentially give him the ability to "fly" for short distances.

Reaper [Tier 1]: In a game where most players keep their mouse sensitivity relatively low, Reaper excels in maneuvering around heroes. In a game where most long-range heroes are using low-sensitivity, he can absolutely dominate.

Widowmaker [Tier 1]: Any hero that can take out enemies in one shot at long range is going to be overpowered in the right hands, and Widowmaker certainly fits that category. Her excellent mobility also helps her position correctly, and her ultimate is a massive boost to team vision. The only drawback is that she has little in the way of survivability once an enemy hero gets close.

Junkrat [Tier 1]: Many of you might be wondering how Junkrat made it up to Tier 1, and the answer mostly lies with his ability to zone out enemies in tight corridors via his traps and bouncing bombs. He's also very good at control maps, since he has the ability to hit enemies without being in their line of sight.

Winston [Tier 1]: Although he doesn't quite have as much impact as Reinhardt in the early game since his shield is less mobile, late game Winston is much more powerful if you're behind. The reason for this is that his mobility is stronger than Reinhardt, and Winson provides 360 degree protection from enemy attacks, ideal for defending objectives.

Mercy [Tier 1]: In some scenarios, Mercy may even rank ahead of Lucio. Her ability to resurrect her entire team can certainly mean the difference between victory and defeat, but needs to be used carefully. Of course there's always that point in time where you resurrect your team only to find they all rushed to the bathroom...

Description of Tiers

God Tier: These heroes are strong in almost any situation, and can be played by even relatively new players with ease. Their game-impact is felt immensely even without particularly high skill.

Tier 1: These heroes are capable of taking over a game by themselves in the right hands, but may have one or two flaws that enemies can take advantage of.

Tier 2: These heroes are balanced and can be played in a variety of scenarios.

Tier 3: These heroes are are playable, but higher tier heroes can perform the same roles either easier or better than they can.
